While the weather was abominable, the 2006 edition of the Chili Fly-in went on as scheduled although it was actually a Drive-In event. More than 40 members and guests braved the hazards of surface transportation to partake of Tony's famous, secret recipe concoction. This was an international event as well, with Julie Knepel, Aaron's wife, from Australia and Valde and Helle Jorgensen from Denmark in attendance. Julie had never tasted Chili before and while she didn't say so, I suspect she would have liked to have had some Foster's to quench the fire.
Desserts were numerous and delicious and while most were entirely consumed I now know why Tony is constantly asking for members to bring desserts to the fly-ins. The few that survive the fly-ins provide a tasty treat to the Stag regulars throughout the following week.
